a very biddle christmas

we celebrated christmas on biddle street this year, it was great - our first time sleeping in our own beds and waking up at our own house with our family at christmas. it was wonderful. garrett had a lot of fun with helping to open presents. santa brought him a sled, but his favorite gift was the ice scraper that was in mama's stocking. it has provided all kinds of entertainment! we carried over a christmas morning tradition from the bousley family and had chipped beef for breakfast and then got our stuff together and headed to great grama's for more christmas fun. the rest of the weekend was spend with grandma and grandpa, uncles jack, jared, and brett.

phew....

the remodel is done as of yesterday afternoon and we are about to go back to life as usual around our house. we have a lot of stuff to get organized, moved upstairs, new furtinure put together and arranged. although, life won't be quite the way it was before the remodel because not only did we get a new bedroom and but we also are expecting two new roommies - jared and elizabeth! they are on there way back from colorado to their student teaching in the area. we are very excited to have them around, and garrett is too. here are a few shots of garrett posing in the new room.

here is kennedy - garrett's brand new cousin! cindy got to visit her last weekend, unfortuantely garrett had to stay home so that he didn't give kennedy his runny nose and cough.

i forgot to include this picture from thanksgiving weekend. grama thought it would be fun to take garrett and jack to get their picture taken with santa claus. jack was on board but garrett was not. he didn't want anything to do with sitting next the the jolly fella, so the only way we escaped getting a screaming garrett & santa shot was for me to sit with him.
we are at the tail end of a month long remodel project of our second floor/master bedroom. it has been a lot of fun for garrett to watch the workers go in and out of the house, up and down the stairs, bring in all kinds of neat tools and supplies to explore, and of course make loud noises. we're looking forward to the end of the project at the end of this week and moving back into our bedroom and getting organized, and heck maybe even decorate for christmas - it's never too late! we are also expecting three very special visitors over the weekend and all three of us can't wait! today while the workers were getting ready to lay carpet garrett took a rest on one of the carpet rolls....

we spent thanksgiving at great grama donna's house with the family. garrett enjoyed thanksgiving dinner, although he slept through the actual dinner, which meant that he didn't get to catch a roll thrown by g-grams.

and he is healthy as can be - 22lbs 2oz and 32 inches long!

any way you look at it, it's hard to believe that garrett has been in our lives that long, and on the other hand it also seems like he's been a part of our family forever. we surely can't remember what our lives were like without him. we look forward to the next year and years beyond that experiencing life with him, learning from him, creating wonderful new memories, and loving him. being parents has been the most amazing journey that either one of us could have ever imagined, ever, ever, ever. it's so wild that just saying, thinking, or typing his name can bring a smile to our faces and a reminder of deep love in our hearts.

we celebrated garrett's day today with many friends and family. once i get the pictures organized, i will post more.

ahhh halloween.... a year ago today our neighbors were joking because i was a week past my estimated due date and they thought perhaps the baby would never come. little did any of us know that just past midnight is when garrett decided it was about time to get moving to see about meeting all of us. here are some shots of garrett dressed up for passing out candy to the trick or treaters tonight....

we had more fall family fun this weekend at the orchard getting cider and pumpkins! garrett picked out his first pumpkin. we are looking forward to passing out candy to trick-or-treaters on friday and celebrating his first birthday on sunday - can't believe it's already been one year!

da cabin part III

We made out final trip to da cabin for 2008 over the weekend and it couldn't have been a more beautiful weekend and beautiful colors. It was a whole new experience for Garrett now that he is walking, all kinds of things to check out and a big yard to play in. We went for a long hike on Friday just the three of us plus Zoe, cooked yummy food (including mama's new speciality - carrot cake!), and relaxed and played together. On Saturday the rest of the family arrived and the fun didn't stop until we all left on Sunday. Garrett helped Grampa cut grass, gathered pine needles in the yard, and enjoyed spending time with his Uncle Jack, Grama & Grampa, AC, Keri, Jana, Joy, and Great Grams.

apple orchard part II

Yesterday Garrett and I met up with some friends at an apple orchard, the second one of the season. We had a great time and braved the chilly fall morning. They had a petting zoo, lots of pumpkins, photo opps and of course apples & hot cider. Later on we met up with an old college friend for lunch in Ann Arbor and stopped to bring mama lunch and visit her at work, working hard of course. It was a fun weekend for sure. Garrett had really started a walking explosion over the last week, and he isn't taking his time about it, the boy can move!

what a day with mama

garrett and his mama had quite an exciting day today. every friday they get to stay home and play together all day long and today there was lots of activity. they went for a run, a long walk, stopping at three different parks in neighborhood and then when i got home we all went for a bike ride. add a few naps and meals and that pretty much filled up his whole day. he went down very quickly tonight, which is no surprise.
